Maggie Rogers: I was singing these songs as I was processing these emotions in real time, which anyone else knows is not normally how it happens. Normally you're singing the songs and touring once you've like long processed. But also the songs kind of felt like a gift from a past future self because they actually were exactly what I needed to hear and live inside.
John Mayer: And you can always make more. I wrote a song about a guy who built a submarine. Walt Grace's Submarine test, I don't know if you've ever heard it. A total fantasy as I wrote it. The only third person song I ever wrote, and I realized it's my dad. Yeah, it's my dad.
