So I won a Grammy(tm) for Best Pop Vocal Album this year. And since winning, there's been rumor that in the best album category, any producer, engineer or mixer working on more than 50 percent of the album wins a Grammy(tm) of their very own. It's taken weeks to determine if this in fact true, but after lots of phone calls, it turns out that indeed, Chad Franscoviak, having worked on 100 percent of the album is taking home an award.
The only thing that feels better than my winning a Grammy(tm) is this guy winning one. Why? Let's break it down.
Chad is the truest kind of friend - the honet kind. He tells me all the time that the only reason he stays around is because the money is good, and that as soon as the well dries up, he's out of here completely. ("Dead in my eyes" was the term he used.) I like knowing where i stand with people, and Chad makes that easy.
Seriously, though. Nobody deserves a Grammy(tm) on their mantle more than Chad. When I asked him what mantle he's going to keep it on, he answered "the one below the Earth's crust, right before all that hot magma." That Chad, always thinking globally.
If you happen to see Chad mixing the sound on an upcoming tour, make sure to walk up to the console and pull a plastic knob off it. He has plenty more and likes to see fans take a part of the show home. He is also open to your ongoing suggestions as to what can be changed during the performance. Yelling things like "Make the bass louder!" and "I can't hear it!" are constructive criticisms that Chad relishes.
Chad, you're the best. Congratulations, my friend.
Rise, for you are cream!
